Energy Committee

The Town of Norfolk Energy Committee is charged with assisting the Town of Norfolk in investigating, recommending and advocating viable methods for achieving energy conservation and energy cost reduction; and in identifying, designing and implementing programs and projects for fostering energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy generation in the Town and in all segments of the Norfolk community.

The charge includes:

  • Establishing the Town of Norfolk as a Massachusetts Green Community.
  • Advising and assisting the Town and community to identify and apply for energy and conservation related grants and funding opportunities.
  • Establishing energy inventories for the Town and setting goals for energy reduction.
  • Recommending feasible projects for energy conservation and renewable energy use.
  • Reviewing Town By-laws and Zoning By-laws to promote energy conservation and renewable energy use.
  • Coordinating with state, federal and private agencies on energy and renewable energy use.
  • Educating and providing outreach to Norfolk residents regarding energy conservation and renewable energy use.
  • Providing recommendation regarding energy efficiency/consumption of new construction seeking building permits for new Town Projects.
